A golf simulator package is one order that bundles some mix of a launch monitor, a screen or net, a mat and sometimes a projector. The word covers very different boxes, so the useful comparison is not the price but the line items. This page is based on retailer listings and published specifications, not on assembling or using any of these bundles. If you are still choosing the monitor on its own, start with the launch monitor guide.

Three kinds of box

Net bundles pair a monitor with a net and a mat. Rain or Shine Golf sells these from $1,599 to $2,698, such as the Mevo Gen2 practice bundle from $2,149. They have no screen and no projector, so you read numbers on a device. They are a practice setup, not a full simulator.

Studio bundles add an enclosure and an impact screen, sometimes with a projector. The SIG8 package at $2,899.99 and Carl’s packages from $4,499.95 sit here.

Overhead premium bundles use a ceiling-mounted monitor. The EYE XO package from $14,995 includes swing cameras and a mat. It frees floor space but needs ceiling height.

“From” prices rise with the enclosure size you pick. The listings for the MLM2PRO and SkyTrak bundles do not spell out every item, so confirm the contents with the dealer before ordering.

What you still buy separately

Every package here leaves out something. The common gaps are:

  • A computer. GSPro runs on Windows and needs a capable PC for 4K graphics, and several of Carl’s listings say a PC is needed.
  • Software after the trial. The SIG8 package needs a Core membership for course play after the trial, and GSPro needs a renewal after its first year.
  • Flooring and padding. Concrete is hard and cold. Foam tiles or padding under the mat is extra.
  • Lighting, power and cables. A dedicated circuit is a job for a qualified electrician.
  • Balls. Marked balls for spin on some monitors.

For a budget view across the whole build, the cost page lists ranges from retailers and shows where the hidden costs sit.

How to choose between them

Start with the room, because the enclosure size decides what fits. The SIG8 package is made for rooms under 9 feet wide, with a frame 8 feet 4 inches wide. Larger Carl’s enclosures need more width and depth. Rain or Shine’s SwingBay enclosure lists a minimum room of 8 feet 6 inches high by 10.5 feet wide by 18 feet deep, and landing pads can raise that.

Then decide how much of the build you want to do yourself. Carl’s and Shop Indoor Golf enclosures are DIY kits with fittings and instructions, so you assemble the frame. If you do not want a pipe-and-fittings build, Rain or Shine’s SwingBay enclosure uses a powder-coated aluminum frame with quick-connect fittings and starts at $1,999, and the retailer says one person can set it up in under 20 minutes. It is sold as an enclosure, not as a package.

Finally, check the room’s fit for your setup type. The pages for the garage, the basement and the small room pick from the same bundles with each room’s problems in mind.

Check the space an enclosure really takes

An enclosure kit is only part of the footprint. Shop Indoor Golf says an enclosure is typically at least about 10 feet wide with at least 6 inches of buffer on each side, and about 12 feet deep on average. The screen should sit 12 to 16 inches from the wall behind it. Add the distance from the ball to the screen, which retailers put at 10 to 12 feet, plus about 7 feet behind the tee, and you land near the 18 feet of depth that SkyTrak and Carl’s Place both describe as the comfortable target.

A short-throw projector such as the BenQ AH30ST in the EYE MINI CORE package can sit within about 10 feet of the screen, which helps in a short room. A standard-throw projector needs more distance. The projector setup guide walks through mounting, but you do not need it to compare these bundles: just make sure the projector and its mount are out of the line of fire. BenQ suggests mounting about 7 to 8 feet from the screen on the target line.

Reading a contents list line by line

Write down five things from every listing before you compare: the monitor model, the enclosure size, the screen grade, whether a projector is in the box, and whether the mat is included. Then add your own column for what the listing leaves out. A low headline price can mean parts are left out, and a high one may include parts you already own.

Two examples from the listings above. The EYE MINI CORE package names a BenQ AH30ST projector and a HotShot 4x9 mat, so you can price the parts against it. The Carl’s Place Garmin R10 bundle from $4,995 lists a monitor and an enclosure with a premium screen, and its own listing says the projector and mat may be extra, so it is not directly comparable.

Run the numbers

Package prices hide what is missing, so list the parts you still need in the cost calculator, and compare the bundle with the same parts bought separately in all comparisons.

Who should skip packages

If you already own a monitor, a package forces you to pay for one you do not need. Buy the enclosure, screen and mat alone. If your budget is under about $2,000, the budget guide covers a net setup. And check any enclosure frame against your ceiling before you order: the SIG8 frame is 8 feet 4 inches high, but the swing and the mat need height too, so measure first.

Buying mistakes

  • Comparing headline prices. A $2,149 net bundle and a $2,899.99 studio bundle are different products.
  • Assuming “from” is your price. Enclosure size changes the cost.
  • Trusting a contents list you have not read. Contents “may be extra” on some listings.
  • Ignoring clearance. Measure your own swing with your longest club before ordering an enclosure. No setup is risk-free: balls rebound, and padding and distance from the screen matter.
  • Forgetting ceiling height for overhead units. They want 9 to 10 feet above the hitting surface.

Frequently asked questions

What does a golf simulator package usually include?

It varies a lot. Rain or Shine Golf's practice bundles pair a monitor with a net and mat only. Shop Indoor Golf's SIG8 package adds an enclosure and screen. Carl's Place packages add an enclosure and impact screen, and some name a projector and mat as well. The EYE XO package adds swing cameras. Always check the contents list.

Do packages include the software?

Sometimes, and not forever. The Carl's MLM2PRO package lists GSPro, and the EYE XO package lists software, but a license can lapse after a year. The SIG8 package needs a Core membership for course play after its trial. Rain or Shine's Mevo Gen2 practice bundle includes 8 E6 Connect courses with no subscription.

Is a package cheaper than buying the parts?

You cannot tell from the headline. The SkyTrak bundle starts at $6,450, while the ST Max alone lists from $1,695 and Carl's DIY enclosure kit with an impact screen from $999.95. The listing does not say what accounts for the gap, so check the contents and add up the parts yourself on the cost page.

What is missing from most packages?

Flooring under the mat, lighting, electrical work, a computer, balls and installation. Some listings also leave out the projector or mat, so read the line items.

Can I swap parts of a bundle?

Some bundles allow it. Shop Indoor Golf's SIG8 package bundles a projector by default but lets you swap or remove it, and Carl's packages price by enclosure size. Ask the dealer before you order.
